Welcome to The Other Road Counseling! My name is Mallorie Smolen and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Colorado and Connecticut.

I invite children, adolescents, and adults to my practice. I have more than six years of experience and am trained in the following areas: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, Sensory Integration Therapy, LGBTQ+, disruptive behaviors, family conflict, and mindfulness. I have extensive training in a variety of areas and if what you’re looking for isn’t listed, please reach out to me to see if I can support your needs. As a clinician, I believe it’s important to be a lifelong learner. I engage in ongoing supervision and attend professional development training to promote my growth as a clinician.

I can also incorporate non-traditional practices during your session. If you feel comfortable I enjoy implementing holistic modalities. Interventions include yoga, mindfulness, essential oils, playing singing bowls, affirmations, mantras, and knowledge about chakras. Learning about yourself is very important in your journey!

My true purpose as a clinician is to build a trusting relationship with my client that allows them to feel safe when exploring their thoughts and feelings. I truly enjoy meeting new clients wherever they are on their own journey. Every person that I encounter teaches me something new. I believe we all have stories that can help heal not only ourselves but also others. I strive to create a safe place (virtually or in-person) that will allow each individual to share their story and allow the person to transform into their authentic self! The space that we create will allow your transformation to occur.

Do you know how it feels to really relax? Together, in session, we will discover the root cause of these thoughts and we will learn skills to alleviate your symptoms.
