The Other Road Counseling will be hosting a virtual parenting book group on the second Sunday of the month beginning over Zoom at 7:30pm. Bibliotherapy is a creative arts therapy centered around the use of books as being learning tools or relational sources, aiding in the understanding and processing of mental health and personal growth concepts. The books we read will center themes of raising children, parental needs and mental health, family understanding and support, and more.

The Highly Sensitive Child discusses the needs of children who notice and feel more in their environment. The book explains how highly sensitive people come to process their world, giving insight into why this population may come across as “overdramatic” and gives parents ideas on meeting their highly sensitive children in their child’s needs.

Parenting from the Inside Out discusses the importance of recognizing our own childhood experiences and how they may shape our own parenting styles. It also explores findings between neurobiology and attachment to explain how to use self-awareness and reflection of our childhood experiences to ensure we are creating nurturing relationships for our children to thrive.

About Siblings Without Rivalry

Siblings Without Rivalry gives guidance to parents, explaining how to create and foster cooperative and harmonious sibling relationships. It discusses the challenges that come with sibling rivalry and the importance of addressing it. The authors use their own experiences and the stories of other parents to illustrate a practical guide to tackle these typical rough patches.
